DIVERSITY AND THE EUROPEAN PUBLIC SPHERE. TOWARDS A CITIZENS’ EUROPE – EU ROSPHERE (2007 – 2012)
Аn Integrated Project, the EU’s 6th Framework Programme, Consortium Agreement CIT4- CT-2006-028504, period of implementation: 2007 – 2012, implemented by a consortium of 17 European universities and research in stitutes, coordinated by the University of Bergen, Norway; Prof. Yolanda Zografova – Bulgarian team leader on behalf of IPHS-BAS.
The main objective of EUROSPHERE is to create innovative perspectives on the European public spheres and to identify the conditions that enable or undermine the articulation of inclusive European Public Spheres. Towards this objective, EUROSPHERE: - examines the factors that are challenging the fabric of European democracy; - identifi es options relevant to optimizing citizens’ involvement in the European democratic processes; - assesses different strategies for strengthening of its inclusive democratic, plural institutions. The research plan comprises synchronized data collection and analysis activities in 16 countries as well as creation of a Eurosphere Knowledge base. In addition to regular research and academic dissemination activities, EUROSPHERE organizes several large-scale conferences, European Forums, researcher training and PhD courses. The methods developed by the international research team include an extensive semi-directive interview designed for key social actors – representatives of political parties, the media, think-tanks and social movements/ NGOs, secondary data analyses of social survey data from Eurobarometer, ESS, etc., and content analyses of news items on key EU-related issues on print and broadcast media in all participant countries by employing an especially designed media data coding scheme.

THE DYNAMIC NATURE OF INTERETHNIC ATTITUDES IN BULGARIA: A SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE (2013-2016)
The most significant international project. Is a project implemented within the framework of the Bulgarian-Swiss Research Programme, Agreement No IZEBZ0_142998/1, period of implementation: April 2013- March 2016, coordinated by Dr. Eva Green, Institute of Social Sciences, University of Lausanne, Switzerland, and Prof. Dr. Yolanda Zografova, Bulgarian team leader on behalf of the Department of Psychology and prof. Antoaneta Hristova, PhD, IPHS-BAS.
The general aim of this project is to deepen the understanding of social psychological processes underlying interethnic attitudes and prejudice of both the Bulgarian majority and of the two major ethnic minorities (Roma and Turks) in contemporary Bulgaria, with reference to the historical, political and normative context in which these attitudes are constructed and enacted. Furthermore, the project examines the irnteractive nature of intergroup attitudes by linking them to actual and perceived relations between the Bulgarian majority population and the Roma and Turkish minorities. The project methodology, developed by both Swiss and Bulgarian teams, employed a mixed methods approach – secondary data analyses of European social surveys data; a cross-sectional survey among 1216 respondents from the Bulgarian majority and the Roma and Turkish minorities across three regions in Bulgaria with differing proportions of ethnic groups by using 3-version questionnaires administered as face-to-face interviews; semi-directive interviews among some of the surveyed respondents.

[Rusinova-Hristova, A. (2016). Personality, Values and Ideologies, Sofia. Prof. Marin Drinov Publishing House of BAS, 203 pages] ISBN 978-954-322-866-9.

[Zografova, Y. (2016). Diversity from Social Psychological Perspective. Sofi a, MIV Consult Ltd., 209 pages] ISBN 978-954-2987-20-8.

[Georgieva, R. (2012). Carl Rogers' Psychotherapy. The empathic therapeutic interview. Sofia, „Iztok-Zapad", 272 pages] ISBN 978-619-125-129-6.
