About us

The mission of IPHS is to carry out demographic and psychological research aimed at studying regularities and determinants of population and individual development. Analyses of reproduction processes and psychological mechanisms for regulation of behaviour with the purpose of assisting institutions in the implementation of strategies and policies for social and personal growth in the process of European integration.

IPHS’ key research areas are as follows:

  • Demographic processes and structure changes in population (fertility decline, population ageing, internal and external migrations, destabilisation of the family institution, morbidity and other demographic challenges). Theories, methodological research and empiric analyses;
  • Demographic behaviour changes in the modern society and in conditions of economic and demographic crisis and of increased population mobility;
  • Integration processes and national identity in the context of ethnic, religious, etc. diversity. Groups and social environment, psychosocial crises and values; personality development potential; 
  • Lifelong learning and work, organizational culture, enhancement of subjective well-being, prevention of negative patterns of behaviour (aggression, crime and delinquency, addictions, etc.).
